Getting Back into Bowen - My Experience, by Sally Toye

After my initial Bowen training human and horse in 2019 I moved to Shropshire and as we moved into the bizarre pandemic I decided the 4- leggeds were my thing. I was content. Come 2025 I decided to renew my HCPC Physiotherapy. I also rediscovered using Bowen on several friends and I was reminded how brilliant it is. It is a great modality of treatment and I love that we as therapists are guiding a body to heal itself and do this work. I was back in love with Bowen.

To renew my qualification I needed some CPD. It turned out Jo Wortley was teaching a Module 4 which was well timed for me. Just what I needed. This module is the last one prior to exams and Jo was all my favourite things, she was passionate about Bowen and full of enthusiasm!

I packed my love of learning and drove to Bury St Edmunds for an excellent 3 days of laughter and the company of an eclectic groups of students (and Jo for good measure).

I discovered that Bowen has moved along a whole lot, these students were so much better than I was at that stage. The resources and teaching are now just superb along with access to the "portal" where you can watch the moves on videos. The manuals are much clearer. 

Nervously I started a practical!!! And graciously they took me under their wing and helped me so much. They helped me take my slightly rough pokey moves into something much better and a much improved therapist. Thank you.

Jo shared with me the work she and Colin have done to update Bowen. It has certainly worked! So inspiring.

In 3 days* we revised all the techniques and left me with a lot of processing to do! Lots for me to reflect on. We all have so much to learn and CPD is a wonderful thing.

I would encourage anyone to.do this sort of CPD, it was inspiring and has reinvigorated my love of Bowen,
